Oscar winner Christopher Plummer to have handprint ceremony during TCM Film Fest

    March 4, 2015

Academy Award-winning actor Christopher Plummer will be having his hand and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre IMAX (as reported in a press release by TCM today), during the TCM Film Festival on Friday, March 27, 2015, in the heart of Hollywood, California. The beloved star of stage and screen will also be on-hand for the festival premiere film "The Sound of Music," and will be accompanied with Oscar winner Julie Andrews and the original cast from the film.

“Without question, Christopher Plummer is one of the greatest actors of his generation," said TCM host Robert Osborne, who also serves as the official host of the TCM Classic Film Festival. “From Captain von Trapp in 'The Sound of Music' to his iconic stage and screen performance as Barrymore and his recent Academy Award-winning contribution to 'Beginners,' Mr. Plummer has given some of the most memorable performances of the last half-century, and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate his illustrious career than with this honor.”

Christopher Plummer is not only an Oscar winner, but a very successful Shakespearean actor. He has been a star in Hollywood for 60 years, making him not only one of the most sought after of Hollywood stars, but a true cinematic Icon.

While Plummer is at the festival, he will also be introducing his 1975 film "The Man Who Would Be King." The film was directed by John Huston, was nominated for four Academy Awards and also stars Sean Connery and Michael Caine.

This is the fifth time in a row that TCM will feature a hand and footprint ceremony during their prestigious film festival. Previous stars to be acknowledged with this ceremony during past festivals were Peter O'Toole, Kim Novak, Jane Fonda and Jerry Lewis.

Passes for the 2015 TCM Classic Film Festival are still available, but supplies are limited and passes are selling quick.
