Oscars announce opening ceremony: Live from the Red Carpet


The 87th Academy Awards announced today, February 6, 2015, in a press release, that it will celebrate the upcoming Oscars red carpet arrivals and it will be hosted by ABC stars Robin Roberts, Lara Spencer and Michael Strahan. Each year the Oscars red carpet takes over Hollywood Boulevard and becomes the most highly anticipated red carpet event of the year. No other red carpet arrivals can rival the power of the Oscars arrivals and it will give viewers from around the world all the stellar fashions worn by the biggest stars in Hollywood.

The 90 minute special will showcase the presenters, nominees and performers as they arrive to the red carpet and the show will highlight the journey of some of the nominees will be taking before arriving to Hollywood and Highland. In addition, the special will give Oscar watchers an insider's look at all the Oscars festivities from the view of the nominees.

And the red carpet special will be sure to take a few moments for the chef for the Governor's Ball, Wolfgang Puck. It is tradition for Puck to bring out the Oscars cake and toss some of the special oscar chocolates to the fans in the bleachers.

As in past few years, this special will be hosted by "Good Morning America" anchors Lara Spencer and Robin Roberts along with "Live with Kelly and Michael" co-host Michael Strahan. The team will also be joined with Yahoo! fashion editor Joe Zee and the Editorial Director of People and Entertainment Weekly, Jess Cagle.

Oscars Opening Ceremony: Live from the Red Carpet will air on Oscar Sunday, February 22, 2015, on ABC, just prior to the Oscars presentation. The 87th Oscars will be held at the Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood and Highland Center and is hosted by Tony Award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris. The show will be televised in more than 225 territories and countries worldwide.
