Meet 5 Cast Members at screening of 'The Water Diviner' this Friday Night


Cinémas Palme D'Or in Palm Desert presents an exclusive sneak peek screening of the new film "The Water Diviner" and a live, in-person Q&A session by director five cast members, including: Jacqueline McKenzie, Yilmaz Erdogan, Steve Bastoni, Ryan Corr and Ben O'Toole. The event takes place this Friday Evening (April 17) after the 7:00 pm screening of the motion picture. Seating is first come, first serve, please arrive early for ticket availability.

"The Water Diviner" also stars Academy Award winner Russell Crowe and marks his directorial debut. The film was the winner of Best Picture at the Australian Film Institute (The Australian Equivalent to our Academy Awards). He plays an Australian man that travels to Turkey to find his three sons that had gone missing during the Battle of Gallipoli.

Actress Jacqueline McKenzie is a superstar in Australia - performing on television, film and on stage. She has also starred in many television and film vehicles that have brought her to the world stage as well. In "The Water Diviner," Jacqueline portrays the grieving wife to Russell Crowe's character. For this performance, Jacqueline was nominated for Best Actress at the Australian Film Institute, and she also won the Best Supporting Actress Award at the 2014 Film Critics Circle of Australia.

Actor Yilmaz Erdogan is a renowned actor, writer and director in his native Turkey. For his role in “The Water Diviner,” he won Best Supporting Actor Awards from the Film Critics Circle of Australia and the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts. Erdogan portrays Major Hasan in "The Water Diviner," a leader that and feels emotionally at fault for the loss of over 70,000 Turkish soldiers.

Yilmaz Erdoğan says of acting for Crowe, “Working with Russell was very good for all the actors because he speaks our language. He understands the details of a performance and how to give you exactly what you need very briefly. He was a perfect leader.”

Actor Steve Bastoni is one of Australia's most respected and versatile actors, he has a string of impressive credits to his name including "Matrix Reloaded" and winning an Emmy Award for his performance in "On the Beach." In "The Water Diviner," Bastoni plays Omer, the late husband to Olga Kurylenko's character Ayshe. Bastoni will also soon be seen in James Vanderbilt’s film that is a drama named “Truth,” that also stars Robert Redford and Cate Blanchett.

Actor Ryan Corr made his feature film debut in the Spike Jonze’s film

“Where the Wild Things Are,” based on the popular book by Maurice Sendak. Corr portrays Arthur, one of Russell Crowe's eldest and most responsible of his three sons. His performance is shown in flashback sequences.

Actor Ben O'Toole is marking his feature film debut in "The Water Diviner." He is a graduate of the Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts. He also portrays one of Crowe's sons, Henry. He says of the characters of the sons, “They had illusions of grandeur about going off to fight and becoming heroes, but the truth of it was quite different. We will never really know what that was like, but our job was to put ourselves in the position of being in battle with our brothers.”

"The Water Diviner" is rated R for war violence including some disturbing images and has a run-time of one hour and 51 minutes.
