Producers Julie Lynn & Bonnie Curtis to produce Oscars' 2015 Governors Awards

AMPAS (Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences) Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs announced today (Wednesday, September 2, 2015), in a press release that producers Julie Lynn and Bonnie Curtis will produce the 7th Annual Governors Awards on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center. It was announced last week that Oscar-nominated filmmaker Spike Lee and Oscar-nominated actress Gena Rowlands will receive honorary awards for their work in the motion picture industry and Oscar-nominated actress Debbie Reynolds will receive the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for her work with the mentally disabled.

“Julie and Bonnie are incredibly talented producers – the perfect team to help us celebrate the accomplishments of our honorees,” said Boone Isaacs.

"We are honored and thrilled by this opportunity, as we have such deep respect for The Academy,” said Lynn and Curtis. “With masterful artists like Ms. Reynolds, Ms. Rowlands, and Mr. Lee to celebrate, the evening might just produce itself!”

Lynn and Curtis are producing partners for Mockingbird Pictures, which was formed by Lynn in 1999. The pair have produced five motion pictures, including, "5 to 7," "Last Days in the Desert," "Albert Nobbs," starring Glenn Close and was nominated for three Oscars, and the upcoming 2016 drama "The Sweet Life."

Prior to pairing up with Lynn at Mockingbird, Bonnie Curtis worked for Steven Spielberg at DreamWorks and Amblin, producing "Al," "Minority Report," and co-producing the five time Oscar winning film starring Tom Hanks "Saving Private Ryan." Julie Lynn is currently the producer of the Academy's Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting Awards and has also produced the movies, "The Jane Austen Book Club" and "Mother and Child," starring Annette Bening and Naomi Watts.

The Governors Awards is a private award ceremony and will not be televised.
