Animated film 'Zootopia' tops box office for a second week in a row
According to Box Office Mojo, Walt Disney's "Zootopia" took the top spot at the box office this weekend, making it the second week in a row that the film has been in first place. The film grossed $50 million over the weekend, and has a gross take of $142.6 million in North America. Debuting in second place is Paramount's science fiction film "10 Cloverfield Lane." The film earned a respectable $16.2 million and the good reviews of the film may have helped it to place so high on its opening weekend. Fox's "Deadpool," remained in third place, garnering the film an additional $10.8 million to this very successful film. Altogether, "Deadpool," has earned a little over $328 million in domestic receipts. "London Has Fallen," starring Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart, dropped from second place to fourth place this weekend earning a gross of $10.1 million and the Tina Fey comedy "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot," dropped from fourth to fifth place and the comedy has taken in a total of just a little more than $14.5 million.
Other films debuting this weekend to hit the top ten at the box office were "The Young Messiah," at sixth place and the romantic comedy "The Perfect Match," at seventh place.
Next week, watch for Summit Entertainment's "The Divergent Series: Allegiant," starring Shailene Woodley and Naomi Watts, to dominated the box office. Also, Sony Pictures "Miracles from Heaven," should also place well, as the film stars Jennifer Garner and will most likely be the family friendly film of the week.
