Screen Legend Burt Reynolds to appear in person at 2016 TCM Film Festival


Turner Classic Movies (TCM) announced today (in a press release) that screen legend, actor and filmmaker Burt Reynolds will be attending two events at the 2016 TCM Classic Film Festival on Wednesday, March 30, 2016. Reynolds will be featured in a live, in-person interview on April 30 that will cover his life and career, set to take place at The Ricardo Montalbán Theatre in front of a live audience. His second appearance will take place when he introduces his film from 1974, "The Longest Yard." The TCM Film Festival is taking place in Hollywood from April 28 - May 1, 2016, in the heart of Hollywood.

"For more than five decades, Burt Reynolds has been both a superstar and a force to be reckoned with on screens around the globe, having ranked among the top ten box office attractions in the world on 13 different occasions," said TCM host Robert Osborne. “He is one of the great talents of our time and a true film icon thanks to such now-classic movies as 'Deliverance' (1972), 'The Longest Yard' (1974) and 'Smokey and the Bandit' (1977). I’m thrilled our fans will be able to hear him discuss his life as a movie star, the classic films he’s had the privilege of working on and the talented artists he’s worked alongside.”

Reynolds is being added to a short list of industry professionals that have participated in a long interviews at the festival. Like the earlier interviews, the interview will be taped to air on a future date on the TCM Network. Stars interviewed in previous years include: two-time Oscar winner Luise Rainer, Peter O'Toole, Kim Novak, Eva Marie Saint, Alan Arkin and Norman Lloyd.

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the classic film festival that brings film fans from across the globe to meet classic film artists in person and watch a glorious plethora of classic and even silent films. This year, not only will Burt Reynolds be a presence, but the festival will also include appearances by filmmaker John Singleton, filmmaker Carl Reiner, actor Elliott Gould, Oscar-winning actress Eva Marie Saint, Golden Globe-winning actor Stacy Keach and French actress Anna Karinawill.
