Emma Stone named Best Actress, Musical or Comedy, for ‘La La Land’ at 2017 Golden Globe Awards


Actress Emma Stone has been honored with a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress, Musical or Comedy, for her performance in “La La Land” at the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards tonight, Sunday, January 8, 2017, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The yearly Golden Globe Awards are presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and honor the best in motion pictures and television for the prior calendar year. Jimmy Fallon was the host of the celebration, bringing his unique brand of humor to the event. The 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony was televised live on NBC.

“La La Land” is a film about Mia (Emma Stone), an aspiring actress, and Sebastian (Ryan Gosling), a dedicated jazz musician, who are struggling to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts. Set in modern day Los Angeles, this original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams. The film was written and directed by Damien Chazelle (“Whiplash”).

This is the first Golden Globe Award win for Emma Stone.

“La La Land,” is rated PG-13 for some language and has a run-time of 128 minutes.
